Janes Addiction Announces 2012 U.S. Tour Dates  :
Jane’s Addiction has announced a 2012 North American tour to support their new album called ‘The Great Escape Artist’.

The 2011 album was the band’s first real work together in eight years, and they followed the October album release with a small Janes Addiction tour of live shows & concerts along the west coast and at certain festivals. Beginning on Feb. 22, 2012, Jane's Addiction will begin their tour on an 18 concert tour show in 32 day trip across the United States and North America.

Concert Tickets for the Theater of Escapists tour go on sale Jan. 14, with a special pre-sale beginning Wednesday morning (Jan. 11) at 10AM ET at the band’s website.

When asked, singer Perry Farrell said “We chose to play as many of the great theaters that we could find because we wanted to immerse the audience in a unique experience unlike any they have ever seen at a rock show”. “Expect a mix of musical and visual delights. We like orgies, and hope you do too.”

Lead Guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Chris Chaney will make up the rest of the group.

‘The Great Escape Artist’ is the 4th studio album from Jane's Addiction, featuring ‘Irresistible Force’ and the current hit single ‘Underground.’

It’s official! Perry Farrell will front Jane’s Addiction & hit the road on tour with dates in 2012. The experienced alternative group will kick off a fairly North American run Feb. 5 in Indianapolis and play a steady stream of shows through March 24 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The band will cap-off the run with two back-to-back Brazil shows, April 7 and 8, in Sao Paulo. The tour is in support of Jane’s Addiction’s latest full-length, “The Great Escape Artist,” which arrived in October of 2011 on Capitol Records.

The Jane's Addiction tour, named “Theatre of the Escapists,” has the band bringing their catchy mixture of alternative music, metal with touches of punk and rock, to intimate small venues, many of which are classic theaters. “We chose to play as many of the great theaters that we could find because we wanted to immerse the audience in a unique experience unlike any they have ever seen at a rock show,” Perry Farrell said in an official statement from the band.

Perry Farrell will be joined by their lead guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bass player Chris Chaney on bass for the length of the 2012 tour.

Led by the flamboyant, outspoken Perry Farrell, Jane's Addiction blended art-rock, punk, metal, funk and glam into music that was ambitious and utterly decadent. The group broke up during its peak of popularity in 1991, just after its appearance at the first Lollapalooza Tour, which Farrell organized. Farrell continued chasing his muse in PornoforPyros and other projects and ultimately reunited with Jane's Addiction, but he never again reached the critical or commercial success the band had in its prime.

Perry Bernstein spent the early part of his life working for his jeweler father in New York City's diamond district. When he was still a child, his mother committed suicide (Farrell alluded to this later, on "Then She Died..." from Ritual de lo Habitual, singing to a friend who has died of an overdose, "Will you say hello to my ma?...She was an artist, just as you were"). After her death, the Bernsteins moved to Woodmere, Long Island, and then to Miami.

Bernstein attended college briefly in Oceanside, California, but quit after having a nervous breakdown. He then started lip synching and doing exotic dancing in a Newport Beach nightclub, taking the stage name Perry Farrell by adopting his brother's first name as his last (making a pun on peripheral). In 1981 he started the goth-like Psi Com, which released an indie label EP before breaking up in 1985. full Janes Addiction biography
